About Us

Unpretentious, intimate, and welcoming, Gianfranco's sits unassumingly among The Shops at Crescent Moon, an eclectic collection of stores and restaurants tucked away at the westerly foot of Pinnacle Peak. Don't expect a glitzy exterior; the restaurant is housed in a modest stone-front building. Beyond the simple wood and glass entry door is a bar area on the right and an L-shaped dining room that exudes an aura of comfort and hospitality. Double clothed tables in pale taupe and mustard are mated with wood-framed oval-backed dining chairs that are beautifully embellished with nail heads. The seats and backs are upholstered in fawn brown ultra-suede. The textured Berber carpeting, wood paneled and muted painted walls discretely meld with the rich brown window panels draped hourglass style and secured with tasseled pulls. Several strategically placed framed mirrors and European landscape oil paintings that adorn the walls are softly lit by ceiling cams and halogen lights. The whole thing comes together to create a mellow friendly ambiance, a home away from home feeling.
Gianfranco's is the creation of "Padrone" (Owner) Gianfranco Motti, and the menu is his masterpiece.

Born in Milan and formally trained in one of the world's most prestigious culinary schools at Lake Maggiore, Italy, his international resume includes some of the finest...

...renowned kitchens in the world, including several in the New York metropolitan area. He moved to Arizona in 1991 and opened Un Bacio on Camelback, later moving the restaurant to The Shops at Gainey Ranch. He sold Un Bacio in 2005. Now, two years later and to our good fortune, he has brought his culinary fervor and talent to north Scottsdale.

"You can't eat Italian without trying the pasta, so we asked for the rigatoni, a house specialty."

"Desserts at Gianfranco change daily, but there are always certain staples such as the tiramisu we shared."
